About the College

College of Chemical Engineering

Establishment, Vision, Mission and Objectives

University of Technology–Iraq

01

Establishment and Development

The College of Chemical Engineering was established in 1975, the same year in which the University of Technology was founded. Since its establishment, the college has developed into one of the university’s distinguished academic institutions. It has continued to expand its academic programs, scientific facilities, and educational resources to keep pace with advances in science, engineering, and industrial technology.

The college is dedicated to preparing specialized engineering professionals with the knowledge, technical skills, practical experience, and professional responsibility required to contribute effectively to industrial and national development.

02

Chemical Engineering and Industrial Development

Chemical engineering is a cornerstone of industrial development. It applies scientific and engineering principles to the chemical and physical processes through which raw materials are transformed into valuable finished products.

The discipline integrates industrial technology with modern scientific and engineering concepts. It transforms innovative laboratory-scale processes into safe, efficient, and economically viable industrial operations while ensuring compliance with technical, quality, safety, and environmental requirements.

Role of the Chemical Engineer

Chemical engineers conduct feasibility studies, develop production processes, and participate in their planning, design, construction, operation, control, optimization, and management. They must remain informed about advances in scientific research, industrial technology, and economic studies to establish new industries and modernize existing production systems.

Industrial and Professional Fields

Chemical engineering contributes to a wide range of essential industrial and environmental sectors:

Oil Refining Gas Production Petrochemical Industries Chemical Industries Food Processing Pharmaceutical Industries Biochemical Industries Construction Materials Industrial Water Treatment Drinking Water Treatment Pollution Control
Vision

Academic Excellence and Leadership

The College of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology–Iraq aspires to become a distinguished and internationally recognized institution in chemical engineering education, scientific research, innovation, and community service.

Mission
